Terms of Service
Last updated: April 19, 2026
Welcome to BroadwayLog. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
Where possible, each section starts with a plain-language summary. The full language follows—the full language is what binds if there's a conflict.
1. About BroadwayLog
BroadwayLog is a personal theatre attendance journal. You can log Broadway and Off-Broadway shows you've attended, rate and review them, and optionally share your profile and entries publicly.
BroadwayLog is operated by BroadwayLog. You can reach us at hello@broadwaylog.app.
2. Your account
Summary: You need an account to log entries. You're responsible for your account. Don't pretend to be someone else.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
- You must provide accurate information when registering (real email, a username you're entitled to use).
- You are responsible for all activity on your account. Keep your password safe. Tell us at hello@broadwaylog.app if you suspect someone else has accessed it.
- You may not impersonate another person, create accounts on behalf of others without permission, or use offensive, misleading, or trademark-infringing usernames. We maintain a reserved-names list and may reclaim usernames that violate these rules.
- You may close your account at any time. See §8.
3. The Service
Summary: BroadwayLog is a personal journal for theatre attendance. It's provided as-is.
- The Service lets you log shows you've attended, rate them, review them, and optionally share them publicly.
- Show catalogue data is sourced from public sources including the Internet Broadway Database (IBDB). We do not guarantee the completeness or accuracy of that data.
- We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
4. Your content
Summary: Your journal entries and reviews are yours. By marking them public, you give us permission to display them publicly. You're responsible for what you write.
You own your content
You retain all rights you had in any content you submit (journal entries, reviews, ratings, profile text, avatars)—collectively, "Your Content".
The license you grant us
To run the Service, we need permission to do things with Your Content—store it, back it up, display it to you, and display it to others when you mark it public.
You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for example, to resize an avatar or generate preview images for social sharing when you mark an entry public), display, and distribute Your Content—solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except as necessary for us to maintain backups for a reasonable period and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not claim ownership of Your Content. We will not use Your Content for advertising or sell it to third parties.
What you promise about Your Content
By submitting content, you confirm:
- You have the right to submit it (you wrote it, or you otherwise have permission).
- It does not infringe anyone else's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
- It does not violate the Acceptable Use rules in §5.
Public vs private
- Entries and profiles are private by default.
- You can toggle individual entries or your whole profile to public. Public content may be indexed by search engines, cached by third parties, and seen by anyone with the URL.
- If you make content public and later make it private, previously-cached copies outside our control may persist. We'll remove it from our systems promptly; we can't control third-party caches.
5. Acceptable Use
Summary: Don't use the Service to harass, infringe, spam, or attack.
You agree not to:
- Post content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, or that incites violence.
- Post content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights.
- Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Send spam, bulk messages, or unsolicited promotional content.
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you don't have permission to access.
- Probe, scan, or test the security of the Service without written permission. Responsible security disclosures are welcome at hello@broadwaylog.app.
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service beyond what public RSS, robots, or sitemap endpoints permit, or evade rate limits and other technical controls.
- Interfere with the Service or attempt to overload our infrastructure.
- Copy our application code or proprietary design for the purpose of republishing it.
If you violate these rules, we may suspend or terminate your account.
6. Intellectual property
Summary: BroadwayLog's code and design are ours. Show catalogue data comes from third parties and their rights apply.
- The BroadwayLog name, logo, visual design, and application code are owned by BroadwayLog.
- Show metadata (titles, cast, credits, theatre names, etc.) is factual information aggregated from public sources including IBDB. We claim no ownership over the underlying facts.
- Poster images, show names, venue trademarks, and other third-party materials may belong to their respective owners. Where poster images are displayed, we rely on applicable defenses including fair use (US) and fair dealing (UK), and will remove images promptly on valid copyright notice per §7.
7. Copyright concerns
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, email hello@broadwaylog.app with a description of the work, a link to the allegedly infringing content, and your contact information. We will review and act in accordance with applicable law.
8. Termination
Summary: You can leave anytime. We can terminate accounts for violations.
- By you: Delete your account from your profile settings at any time. Deletion is described in the Privacy Policy §6.
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if continuing to provide the Service to you creates material risk. If you believe an action on your account was in error, contact hello@broadwaylog.app within 30 days and we will review.
- Effect of termination: Your access ends and Your Content will be deleted per the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive (Your Content license for backups, intellectual property, limitation of liability) survive termination.
9. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy of data. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BroadwayLog is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, missed performances, or ticket-related costs, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights that cannot be waived under applicable law, including rights under applicable data protection law.
11. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you agree to the Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms with a new "Last updated" date and provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
